on view at INK Hong Kong

Continues her series of crossovers between art and fashion, this time bringing her surrealistic vision to Hong Kong.

Andrejeva and the Cherevitchkiotvichki team created a life-size female body sculpture made out of the fabrics off-cuts from the last collection. The female sculpture further explores the theme of the past season: “Man.Woman.Lyrical Utility”. It focuses on the body, its dimensions and layers. The sculpture has a lyrical purpose and represents the up-cycle of garment manufacturing. Each patch of its patchwork skin has the same colour and natural dying treatment as used in Cherevitchkiotvichki clothing. The skin has been hand stitched together covering a soft structure held together by a skeleton of thin metal strings. “A Toppled Anatomy” takes shape in a female figure, with somewhat detailed leaning body. It embodies the idea of primitive femininity, powerful and delicate at once, quintessential to the Cherevichkiotvichki brand identity. With its generous curves and hair made of ribbons reminiscent of a mythological Medusa, the sculpture evokes the most ancient notions of motherhood, fertility and nature, translated into Victoria Andrejeva’s experimental language. The installation was unveiled during the Art Basel Hong Kong art fair and it is currently on display at the INK concept store located in the vibrant area of Causeway Bay.
