The University of Westminster’s class of 2016 kicked off the graduate fashion show season with a vibrant and eclectic runway show held at P3 in Central London last night. The BA(Hons) Fashion Design graduates presented their final year collections, featuring menswear, womenswear, tailoring, print and embellishment.
Liam O’Sullivan, Christopher Pak, Leah white, Jack Byne and Yasemin Cakli were among the graduates who presented their debut collection. The class of 2016 has already achieved impressive international industry experience with students having interned at Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Chloe, Mary Katrantzou, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Viktor & Rolf and Calvin Klein.
The University of Westminster’s annual fashion runway show is renowned for producing some of the most exciting young designers in recent years including Liam Hodges, Claire Barrow and Ashley Williams.
Andrew Groves, Course Director of the University of Westminster’s BA (Hons) Fashion Design said “With the international fashion industry currently going through a period of change, instability and upheaval, our graduates have shown a variety of different responses to the challenges that this demands. Their collections have demonstrated an incredible mixture of creativity paired with excellent technical skills which offer hope and show where fashion will be heading in the future.
Last year’s graduates from the University’s BA(Hons) Fashion Design are now employed by prestigious international fashion houses including Burberry, Max Mara, Versace, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Adidas and Harrods. Previous alumni of the course include Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Office of Burberry; Jutta Kraus, Creative Director of Bernhard WIllhelm; and Stuart Vevers, Creative Director of Coach.
